About Us
The Communities in Action (CIA) Project, administered by the Richland County Health Department in Sidney, Montana, is implementing a sustainable community building process that combines all aspects of health and economic development to improve quality of life in Eastern Montana. This unique, multi-faceted approach is a response to the modern day needs of frontier life and is established through identifying, developing, implementing, sustaining, and evaluating sustainable approaches to community development.
Through a comprehensive approach, communities can share and maximize scarce resources and develop systems of support development which are sustainable over the long term. This holistic strategy considers all dimensions of the problems that face communities. Some of the chosen strategies may include: coalition building, community needs assessments, resource development, and building capacity of existing organizations.
