About VISTA
For more than 40 years, AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) has been in the forefront of helping communities across America help themselves to fight poverty. Our members devote a year or more of their lives to the challenge of eradicating poverty's root causes. They do this by mobilizing community volunteers and local resources, and by increasing the capacity of the people they serve to rely on themselves. VISTAs help to address the underlying societal problems that contribute to poverty. When VISTAs complete their service, they leave behind long-term sustainable solutions to some of our country's toughest problems.
